I worked hard all my childhood, thru my 20's to find my father. Mind you my mother and father got divorced when I was 3 years old. All I knew was he was he came from Michigan; had served in the Vietnam War and was in the Army; had a sister; Flint and Bay City were just names in my head when I thought of him (found out later they were cities in Michigan); was tall (from a small child's point of view; wore military glasses; and was the one person I wanted in my life from my earliest memories.

Well I did finally find him, before Facebook, and all the social media we have today. Before there was an ancestry.com and I called more town clerk's office's in any one state than should be allowed. Sadly, I did not get to spend all the time with him I had wanted to, but I have many letters which I cherish. He died a few years after actually getting to meet him face to face and introduce my children to him. It was one of the highlights in my life.

Due to all I went thru to find him, I have put that effort into really putting my heart and soul into my family tree. It means everything to me and so if I can help others find someone they love or a relative that has passed on, than I am happy to be of assistance. I love doing genealogy, it brings me comfort and a sense of belonging.

My dad's family I am working on are so far: Butler, Bishop, Wagoner, Zimmer, Elliott, Booth, Gramm, Siel, and Graham.
