I research the German name Homrighausen and its various spelling variations in the US: Homrighaus, Homrighous, Homrighouse, Humrighouse, Homrig, Humrickhouse, Humrichouser, Humrichouse, Humrichous, Humerickhouse, and Houser.
The Homrighausen name came from some small towns in Nordrhein-Westfalia, most notably Diedenshausen, Wunderthausen, and Berleburg. The earliest immigrants to the US were the family of Johannes Anthonig Homrighausen who settled in Pennsylvania around 1748.

Almost all surname variations have errant spellings at one point or another in historical records. A Humrickhouse may show up as a Humrichouse, so in some family trees you may notice the spelling changes from one generation to the next. I have researched to the best of my ability to get the correct surname spelling from a genealogical perspective but especially with the Humrickhouse and Humerickhouse lines of the eastern US (WV, VA, MD) it is sometimes blurred.
