I live in Olathe, Johnson County, Kansas although I grew up in Springfield, Missouri. I have been an amateur genealogist for over 40 years mostly involving my family lines that settled in southwest Missouri in the 1830's to 1840's. I am a GENWEB county lookup volunteer for records in Greene, Douglas, Christian and Webster counties as I have numerous resources for info and records for those counties. My primary families from the area are SWEARENGIN, BENCH, KERSHNER HARGIS, STEELE, MOSES, BOOKOUT and BROWN. Most of these families came from Tennessee, North Carolina or Virginia as did most settlers in southern Missouri.
