While searching for my Great Great Grandfather, James Oliver Hewitt, I realized and appreciate the difficultly some of us have in locating our family members and hope I can help someone in their search.
My grandfather lived in northeast Kansas (Brown County) sometime around 1895 when he loaded a wagon with grain and struck out for St. Joseph, MO, never to be seen again.
He sold the team, wagon and grain and hopped on a train to Fairbury, Nebraska. The trail ends there.
I would enjoy hearing from anyone who may have a similiar story with the Hewitt name.
