Genealogist since 1977. My desire is to find my Taylor line. In 1978 I found my second great grandparents in Washington County, Missouri. My father told me his family originally came from Tennessee. By searching Census records in Tennessee and comparing the names of John L. Taylor's children from the 1860 census Mo. with those in 1850 in TN. I found John L. Taylor and Mary Ann Diddle's family in Blount TN. Marriages gave me other members of the family and it seems John L.'s father John moved with his son Abraham after the death of his wife Penelope back to North Carolina. Abraham move on to South Carolina when he retired.
John L. moved his family to Missouri. I would like to find out why the family went in different directions.
The Taylor Family is one of the most difficult families to research. When I found John in the 1860 Census in North Carolina his grandson Daniel was living with him. Abram was also with him and his son Daniel A. was in the home of John.
