Documenting my family's history has been important to me since I was 21 or so. I remembering talking to my mother's parents about their memories and initially began writing it on paper, but discovered that recording them on my cassette tape recorder was a wonderful way of preserving their voices. I cherish reviewing these recordings from time to time and have digitized them so they can be shared more easily.
My maternal grandmother preserved her family history on paper whereas my maternal grandfather was an
oral recollection. I am fortunate that my paternal ancestors have been documented in a book entitled "Fair is the Place".
I have now transcribed my records to Personal Ancestry Writer II (PAWriter II), for MacOS X.
