I am a canadian who is researching my american born grandfather for the purpose of a book.

He was born Charles James Kreuzburg [various spellings]September 5th 1874. A year later Charles father passed away. His mother remarried Ignautz Kammer, thus my grandfather adopted the last name "Kammer" for the rest of his known life. [as per 1920 passport]

Note: I started doing research on my grandfather as my father knew very little about his father, as my father was only 4 years old when my grandfather left canada to go back to the usa.

During my research I uncovered my grandfather was a bigamist, having married at least five women. My grandfather was known to be of great wealth, thus making it easier to attract women. He was also a travelling Hardwood lumber salesman, having travelled parts of the eastern usa; Canada; and several ports in Central America.

I have finally found my grandfather's death certificate, which indicates he died June 7 1958 in New Orleans, La. He lived at least 15 years longer then the family first thought.
