I have been married 35 years to a Coal Miner's daughter from Beckley, Raleigh County, West Virginia. I was stationed behind the Iron Curtain from 1974-1976 in East Germany. Retired after a 21-year military career in 1998. I am a retired high school science teacher and published author, "Archibald Clybourn-Chicago Pioneer, 1823-1872", published July 21, 2021. February of 2026, I published my 2nd book, "Military History of the Cliborne Claiborne Family 1624 to 2018". I Grew up around Chicago. A distant cousin of mine, Archibald Clybourn, was one of three men that founded the city of Chicago. My 4th great-grandfather, William Cliborne, was in the American Revolutionary War 1780-1781 and received a 100 acre bounty land warrant in what is present day Ohio. 3rd great-uncle, PVT Stanley Jackson Cliborne, died on February 10, 1862, from wounds received at the Battle of Roanoke Island, North Carolina, February 7-8, 1862. During the American Civil War, Stanley served in the same unit with his brother, my 3rd great-grandfather, SGT James Lafayette Cliborne. My tree of surnames connected to Cliborne include Tuck, Hite, Chandler, Whitt, Dunn, McAbee, Forlines, and Upton. I have been doing genealogical research for 43 years now. The road has been tough, there are over 40 ways to spell my surname and they are all related.
