Most of my paternal ancestors settled in Randolph, Wayne, Henry & Delaware counties, Indiana. Have many Quaker ancestors from the early colonial period through the Civil War period on this side of the family. My maternal ancestry is from Cocke county, Tennessee and also Haywood & Buncombe counties, North Carolina. Almost all my ancestors came to the United States in the very early colonial period, fought in the American Revolution, and advanced west with the growth of the country.

A few of my ancestral surnames: Conyers, Seagrave, Sutherland (also Southerland), Rich, Kendrick, Blackwell, Fine, Harris, Denton, Hiatt, Current, Lewellen (various spellings), Starbuck, Mills, Mulford.

TO ALL PHOTOGRAPHERS: PLEASE DO NOT TAKE PHOTOS LOOKING DOWN AT A TOMBSTONE UNLESS SAID STONE IS FLAT OR EVEN WITH THE GROUND!!!

This is a source of irritation to other researchers & contributors who cannot see the inscriptions. Not only do we want to know what the stone looks like, we want to see the inscription!

TO PROPERLY & CORRECTLY PHOTOGRAPH A TOMBSTONE: Get down even with the stone. This ensures that the inscription can be clearly read & lessens the likelihood of incorrect transcription of data at a later time. Take the photo looking straight at the tombstone; then from an angle both from the left and right - this will help you get a clear reading of the inscription in bright sunlight or in shaded areas.
