Born Rachel Anna Bunce on 3 January 1954 in Miami, OK. The third child of Leo Sylvester Bunce, 10 February 1927 to 8 December 2011, and Cleota Swearingen, 24 January 1928. Paternal grandparents were Ernest Sylvester Bunce, 5 July 1900 to 1941 and Ella Sparrow Mustain, 9 March 1905 to July 1981. Maternal grandparents were Joseph Samuel Swearingen, 11 January 1881 to June 1954 and Leona Carzenia Tompkins (raised as Leona Fleming by her maternal grandmother using her mother's maiden name) 9 June 1905 to May 2001.
Graduated from Fairland High School, Fairland Oklahoma in May 1972. Joined the U.S. Women's Army Corps on 20 May 1975. In 1977, President Gerald Ford did away with the Women's Army Corps. Was an enlisted member of the U.S. Army until 15 July 1979 serving as a personnel specialist. Honorable Discharge at the rank of Specialist Five (SP5) with Army Commendation Medal on 15 July 1979. Received an Associate Degree in Information Technology from St. Philip's College in San Antonio, TX in December 2001.
Married U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Thomas Michael Mauser at the main post chapel at Fort Sam Houston, TX on 26 June 1976. Had one child, Kenton Thomas Mauser, born 26 January 1978. Kenton was hit by a drunk driver while riding his bicycle in San Antonio, TX and died on 7 August 1991 at the age of 13. Divorced Thomas M. Mauser on 14 January 1998 after 21 years of marriage. Changed my last name to my great grandmother's maiden name of Fleming upon divorce.
Retired as a U.S. Army Federal Employee after 34 years of federal service on 1 July 2010. Worked at various locations as a secretary, personnel assistant, management assistant, computer assistant and then from December 2001 until retirement as an information technology specialist performing desktop computer support, software testing, and network account management at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
According to DNA testing done in 2021, I am Caucasion of 100% European descent, mostly German (43%) and English.
