My interest in genealogy and appreciation of cemeteries came from my maternal grandmother. I belong to the Society of Mayflower Descendants through her ancestors. These ancestors, to date, are Henry Samson (and the aunt who raised him, Ann Cooper Tilley, who had no children of her own), Edward Fuller, James Chilton and his daughter Mary (who married John Winslow), and Richard Warren. More to come, possibly.
I thought Grandma's genealogy was well researched and documented, but I only knew a fraction of it.
Very little is known about Grandpa's ancestry and that continues to be the challenge. His Bunting and Murphy ancestry, however, is known and documented in Livingston and Washtenaw County MI.
I have met many friends and relatives in the process of unraveling my family's past, and it's become a terrific hobby. I don't know what I did in my spare time before.
Some of the names I research are Gardner, Bunting, Murphy, Eastman, Sprout, Damon, Scovill, Collins, Reed, Hinchey, Lassen, and last but not least, Rasmussen.
On my husband's side I research Jacques and Boucher.
