Several years ago my mother, Rivelle Sutton, all of a sudden was interested in her family background. Since I am interested in antiques and the history behind them, she engaged me to research the family.
We started on ancestry.com and then found FindAGrave. I was so surprised to find gravestones of my relatives that someone else had entered into the system. Once we got all we could on the internet, we began to travel. My mother grew up in Norfolk, VA so we went there and roamed all the cemetaries. Met relatives I didn't know existed and basically had a great time. A funeral salesperson actually approached us with a 2 for 1 deal. HA! that was a hoot. We laughed all the back to the hotel.
This has been a really great journey and I have learned a lot and my mother and I are a lot closer now. So I feel that if I can help someone else, I will. I really love hunting for the right person and getting the info for people that need it.
