I know my love for genealogy came from my mom. She and her sister started searching diligently for relatives, for their vital statistics, in the courthouses and graveyards back in the late 70's. At that time a person doing research was allowed to handle the books and search through the Births, Marriges, and Deaths themselves in the Forest City, North Carolina courthouse. In the late 70's there were not many people doing research like that in the area. Now, and its understandable, the public is no longer allowed to handle the books.

39 years ago Mom and my aunt linked family members together in Rutherford Co., N.C and I helped them write the names into their spiral notebooks. Now, today some of the surnames I'm researching on my side are:

KIMBRELL, HAMRICK, PADGETT, KENNEDY. My side mainly in North Carolina. On my husbands side: GRAY, CHRISTIANSEN, KENNEY, MURDOCK, and GILES. My husbands mainly in Massachusetts. My son's line: MANGUM, CUDD, BAILEY, and HOOVER. My sons mainly in North & South Carolina. Yes, I'm researching for all 3 of us but we have wonderful help from family and friends on FAG.
