I am 55 as of November of 2011, and I am the father of 5 sons and 1 daughter. My father was adopted as a youth and our name changed. Our birth last name is Marshall. After doing some research, I find that my family mainly lived in the the Portsmouth, Concord and Hill New Hampshire area. My g.g. grandfather was James F. Marshall, born in Concord, N.H. and he was married to Emma L. Shaw first, then to Emma A. Hall. He married Emma A. Hall at Hill, N.H. in 1872.
James F. Marshall was a member of the Storer Post No. 1, Department of New Hampshire, Grand Army of the Republic, and of the A.F. and A.M., his wife was an honored and active member of the W.R.C.
Frank served with the 12th New Hampshire Infantry. He was promoted to Corporal at Chapin's Farm, Va., November 1, 1864. He was wounded at Cold Harbor, Va. June 3, 1864 by gun shot through the left shoulder.
He had four sons: Frank A., Chester H., Fred J. and Charles R., my great grandfather.
