After reading my dad's story I realize what a blessing it was that he took the time to write his story. My dad was about my age when he decided to write his story and about eight months later he passed away. I've always been interested in my family history and for years I've sort of played around with searching for a few things. I finally became serious when ancestry.com made it easier to search. Thus, the request for everyone to start their story for everyone's story is special and your grandchildren will appreciate the time you spent writing your story.
