I had never heard of Find A Grave until I chanced upon it while doing a generic internet search of my grandfather's name, and was happily surprised to see a picture of his grave marker. I was hooked and signed up. Since then, Find A Grave has allowed me to see many family headstones and markers that I will probably never see in person, and has added several previously unknown details to my family's genealogy records. THANK YOU! to everyone who gives so much of their time and effort to help people they've never even met.

I know all the Scandinavian 'sons and dotters' can be misleading, but those same names might be in someone else's records as well as mine, so I included them.

...and please don't hold this against me, but, California. Dad, a Nebraska kid, got stationed at the Naval Hospital in San Diego at the end of the war, fell in love with the place and started his family there. Five of us grew up in both California and Arizona, but Arizona always won the where-do-I-really-feel-at-home contest. I am finally HOME, permanently!
IF SOME OF THESE NAMES AND PLACES ARE SIMILAR TO YOURS, maybe we have ancestors in common and can compare notes. They came from England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Norway, Sweden, Germany, and Canada. Like most Americans, I am a certified mutt, but most importantly, simply AMERICAN. No hyphens here!
