I grew up in South Dakota but no longer live there. My roots in SD go back furthest to the Sparling family who settled the area when it was still the Dakota Territory. Many of my ancestors initially settled and/or were born in Spink County, although some moved to other parts of the state or further west.

My paternal ancestral lines include: Anderson, Huebner, Long, Scriven/Scrivens, and Sundback.

My maternal ancestral lines include: Bartholomew, Baum, Fuller, Meehan, Smith, Sparling, Spencer, Trelford and Weidman.

I have adopted many memorials from Spink County, South Dakota (where much of my family is from) and Beadle County, South Dakota (where I grew up) as well as memorials of individuals in my extended family tree.

Note that not all the memorials I have adopted have been updated. I update memorials almost daily!

I WILL DECLINE THE FOLLOWING:

Birth dates culled from Census Records. These dates, particularly the 1900 Census, are unreliable at best.

Military Titles unless the individual died while in the service or was career military. This is a hotly debated subject on the Forums and is at the discretion of the memorial manager.

Obituaries with living individuals listed. I do not post copyrighted obituaries and I do not knowingly list living individuals in accordance with FindAGrave policy. Unfortunately, this policy is WIDELY IGNORED with no consequences to the posters. There are many errors and misspellings in obituaries, I verify all information and post in abstract form no matter what the date of the obit. Please refrain from posting clipped copyrighted obituaries to my memorials. Please be respectful and do not post articles with graphic details related to the death of an individual.

Lists of statistics, please note that a biography should be a properly written profile NOT a list of facts. A memorial with a long list of census records, military records, etc. copied from Ancestry does NOT fit the definition of a biography. Not to mention that it looks ugly and is disrespectful!!

OTHER ISSUES

If you send edits from "family trees", please use caution. I find that many are not well sourced and contain a lot of misinformation. In addition many trees that are published are just copies of other trees and have not been not properly researched.
