I'm a retired biologist, the daughter of Edward M. Holder, a history professor [51833474] and Elizabeth Jerome Holder, a librarian [88262332]. With that inheritance, it's probably natural that I enjoy doing research on just about any topic. Genealogy has been my main hobby since the 1970s.
My father's entire ancestry goes back to the Moravian settlers who came to North Carolina in the 1700s, founded the town of Salem, and moved from there into the rural areas nearby. My current project is identifying and adding to the information on these families in Find a Grave.
My mother grew up in Winston-Salem. Her parents weren't Moravians, but she graduated from Salem College, and she met my father while working there in the early 1940s. She joined the Moravian church and absorbed its history and traditions. (See the obituary on her profile )
