I have spent the last few years researching the Alexander Family tied to Anthony Alexander first mentioned in court records in North Eastern North Carolina in the 1690's. My branch of the family left Washington County, NC in the 1830's when John Anthony Alexander moved with his four sons and four daughters to Marshall County, AL. The family remained there until the 1890's when three of the four brothers moved west to Texas and The Oklahoma Indian Territory. My fathers Great Grandfather Austin Alexander remained in Alabama.
I'm named after I.B. "Brov" Hyde, who at the time of his retirement was the longest serving public official in the state with slightly over 50 years of continues service. In addition to being twice elected as Sheriff of Marshall County, he served 18 years as Guntersville Police Chief.
My father left Alabama in the late 1940's first going to Dallas, TX before finally moving to Detroit, MI in 1950 where he worked over thirty years in the steel industry. I was born and raised in Michigan leaving after graduating High School in 1982.
