I am the daughter of Billy Joe Harrison. People have told me, my whole life, that I am a spitting image of my father. When I was a child, I was called "little billy joe" by my Uncle James. I am a Texas Daughter of The Confederacy (with 17+ and counting, Confederate Veterans in my Family) Deo Vindice and a Daughter to The Republic of Texas via My 4th Great Grandfather, Henry Walker Vardeman, Texas Ranger and Veteran of Battle of San Jacinto. Additionally, I am a Daughter to War of 1812, the American Revolution., and descendant of passengers of The Mayflower (Rogers Father & Son on board).
I am new to Researching and Transcribing Archives for Historical Purposes and am compiling details surrounding an event that involved My Great Great Grandfather, His Double First Cousin, and The Sheriff Spradley of Nacogdoches, Texas June of 1884. My work is called, "Shot The Sheriff" Project. I might add that The Sheriff survived and went on to serve for 30 years and single handedly brought Law and Order to the Wild Wild West of Nacogdoches County.
Find A Grave gives me inspiration and helps me understand the dynamics of the intertwined lives of the people I am writing about. I can see how their relationships with their family, friends, and community; shapes their personality characteristics. I can literally see them come to life in my imagination. This is a great tool for my Project!
