The documentation part of this journey began over 30 yrs. ago via letter writing including visits with great aunts & uncles, county clerk offices, cemeteries & homeplaces. These visits provided photos, certified copies of certificates & yes lots of stories.
The sensory journey began nearly 60 yrs. ago. There were attendances @ reunions, weddings, wakes & funerals. Also participation in the traditional family events such as: presentation of newborns to the patriarch; sewing circles; the mass cookings for family events; agricultural & animal husbandry; hunting & fishing too. These provided common sense & life lessons, dialect of my speech, recipes (which have their own familial histories & stories) and of course more stories.
My families include but not limited to: Clark, Ford, Haynes/Haines, Massie/Massey, Mize, Ross, Shreeves/Schreeves, Stone, Stovall, Sweeney/Swinney and Tuttle. The tracks I'm following: IN, KY, MA, MD, NC, TN, VA, WV, Canada, England, France, Germany, Ireland & Scotland.
