I grew up in Elnora, Indiana and was fortunate to be surrounded by many family members. My paternal grandparents were Clara Evelyn Shaffer Vertrees and Damon Leo Vertrees. My maternal grandparents were Eleanor Violet Isaac Bays and Wayne Herbert Bays. My father is Jim Vertrees and my mother is Carol Bays Vertrees.

While growing up, I would go with my grandparents to visit the graves of family members and would often hear stories about our deceased loved ones. My grandparents are now deceased, so I feel that I should honor their memories and continue sharing family traditions and information. As a result, I am researching the Shaffer, Vertrees, Bays, and Isaac families. I am excited to learn more about my family and my history.

I am hoping to create virtual cemeteries and share information that I learn with my family and interested parties.
