I am no longer working at the local community college in Disability Services, and I miss my job and the boss who hired me, she was wonderful. My job was eliminated because of all the extreme budget cuts to education during the Recession. I am now retired and working delivering food.


I love doing ancestry research. I have been working on my family tree & visiting graveyards since the 70's. I welcome any 'cousins' who contact me, especially with family photos, I believe "a picture is worth a thousand words".


My family research is mostly centered in Spartanburg County, SC and surrounding areas, but I have branches scattered all over the country (as most people do).


I have been working to put family pictures on FindAGrave memorials. Sometimes I write & ask to manage a relative's memorial because I know more about them than the creator does, but if a closer relative wants to take over one I have, please do not hesitate to ask.

I should relate here that I recently filled out the biography for my cousin Chester Arthur Rhinehart in Portland, Oregon, but after I completed Art's, I was contacted and told I had put it in the wrong cemetery. I looked it up and found him listed by that time in another generic memorial by a stranger. I contacted him to ask him to turn over his memorial to me so I could combine them, but he did not do so. In fact, on his profile, he says he does not turn memorials over to anyone which he knows makes people upset, but he doesn't care. Eventually Find A Grave eliminated my memorial and combined it with his, so now I can no longer add to it or modify it in any way which I believe is very wrong. they said it was because mine was a newer one, but in fact, mine was much older by years. It seems that when you move a memorial, they re-date it to the day you move it, and that is a severe defect in their system. I firmly believe the oldest memorial and the ones by family should take precedence, even though I am not a close enough relative to Arthur (he is my 1st cousin 1x removed) to fulfill FindAGrave's rules.


I strive for accuracy in my memorials, but I do not guarantee it. Please feel free to correct me.


I have lately been adding memorials for my cousin J Richard Gosnell, whose research is concerned with his Gosnell family and related lines in Madison County, NC, Spartanburg, SC, Greenville, SC and connected areas.

Re my memorial for my cousin C. Arthur Rinehart, unfortunately FAG has merged my memorial and biography into a man's who created a generic memorial based on the mausoleum plaque. I no longer have control, so I cannot add to it or edit it. This man has stated in his biography that he is often asked to turn memorials over to family but he doesn't want to and he said a lot of people get mad at him for that. So I am not the only one that he has taken over.


FAG has specific rules about taking over memorials and unfortunately, even though I put a great deal of time and effort into creating my memorial for Arthur, this man's memorial which was created years after mine, it's being allowed to take precedence. The reason is because I put mine in the wrong cemetery based on my cousin Richard Gosnell's wrong belief as to where he was buried. When I moved mine to the correct cemetery and asked the other man to please turn his memorial over to me, he applied to FAG to have my memorial eliminated. I am putting this here so that anyone who wants to know what happened to my original memorial for Arthur can find out. I did not give this stranger my memorial, FAG did. And in my opinion, it's very wrong.
