My genealogy search includes families with the surnames Beckett, Murray, Brown, Crosby, All or Auld
Wilson, Lewis, Austin, and others. Most of the family seems to have started in the Colleton and Berkley Counties of South Carolina. Some migrated to Florida, and a few other places at least temporarily.
I was born in Charleston, SC in 1948.At 6 months of age I was placed in foster care until at the age of 8 I was sent to the Lutheran Orphanage in Salem, VA. , My parents are Jesse Windil Beckett 1901-1962 and Dorothy Elizabeth Brown 1921-2008. My Fathers parents were William Wilson Beckett and Laura Crosby Beckett. Their parents, respectively, were John William Beckett 1853-1911 and Margaret Elizabeth Wilson, who died in 1882.
Last fall I spent time going around Berkley, Colleton, and Charleston County Cemeteries taking pictures of many tombstones of family surnames and some that I think might be related. I have not yet organized them, but will be happy to share any and all that I have. Just e-mail me.
