I have lived in or near Lafayette, Indiana my whole life. I fell in love with old gravestones when I was in Boston visiting my son, where I photographed interesting stones in every cemetery along the Freedom Trail. Soon after doing so, I began volunteering for Find-A-Grave, taking grave pictures locally.
While taking pictures of gravestones, I often feel the presence of those whose grave sites I'm photographing.
I'm a mom, a gramma, a gardener, an avid reader, and a teacher at Purdue.
The caretaker at one cemetery I photographed gave me an excellent tip: pack dryer sheets when you go out picture-taking. When the bugs & gnats start pestering, rub the sheets on your skin!
