Why do Find a Grave volunteers spend so much time photographing and documenting graves? Because we understand that this small act of service opens the door for others to discover their ancestors' stories.
My husband and I are avid geocachers, and have gotten in the habit of photographing cemeteries while on our frequent road trips throughout the Midwest. We try to fulfill as many photo requests as we can, or will simply snap a few shots of interesting headstones. Many of the memorials we have created were the result of photographing random stones and finding that they were not already listed on Find A Grave. If any of these memorials are relatives of yours that you would like to manage, we will be happy to transfer. Just ask!
