I was born and reared in Lampasas County on the land my great-grandfather, Thomas Edward Stanley II, settled in 1875. I graduated from Lampasas High School in 1955 and from Baylor University in 1959. After college, I was a news reporter for the Waco Tribune-Herald from 1959 to 1966, left the Waco area for a decade, and returned in 1976 to live in Woodway, a suburb of Waco.
After retirement in 2006 from the Waco Regional Office of the Department of Veterans Affairs, I have become engrossed in genealogy through the Central Texas Genealogical Society. I have written a 344-page book, copyright 2018, on my mother's German ancestry titled My Journey: Tracing Ancestors to Grote Family Farm in Mackenbruch, Germany.
Now I am working on my paternal ancestry, especially the families of my grandfather, Walter F. Walker, my grandmother, Cora Jane Stanley Walker, and my great-grandparents, Thomas Edward Stanley II and Emma Jane Berry Stanley.
