I believe in findagrave's potential to bring comfort to those of us who live too far from the gravesites of our loved ones to "visit" with them there. While "visiting" their grave on a computer screen may not be as comforting, there is peace to be found by seeing their final resting place. It is a wonderful thing to see who remembrances of those who left "flowers" at their memorial, and it is a joy to write fitting memorials of those we can no longer spend time with.
I am an avid "hobby level" geneoligist, and while researching my family lines, I come across other families. There are times, that for whatever reason, a family not related to mine has not yet been "connected" to each other on findagrave. I find that very sad, and spend some time searching for the parents, spouses, and brothers and sisters of the descedant. It brings me peace to reunite families online that travelled through life together on earth. I hope that my (hopefully, long time from now) online memorial will be linked to those whom meant and mean so much to me in life.
