My father's mother would never tell us about him. She took that to her grave. It was 1930 in a small town and whatever happened, you didn't talk about it back then. If my great grandmother knew him, she only ever told my mom that he was Paiute and French. As an adult my dad showed me his birth certificate stating that his dad was Frank Martin, a 28 year old farmer from the next town. We never found him.
Recently my brother submitted dna to FamilyTreeDna.com and so did a cousin who we discovered in that website. The cousins are a very close match. So we started doing the genealogy for that family to find the common grandfather. We now have a common ancestor.
The first thing we had to do was to find her great grandfather. Close to the first place I found him was here on FindaGrave.com
