I became interested in FindAGrave when researching my own family tree.

Many of our relatives are buried in Kerley Cemetery, Flatwoods, Johnson County, Illinois. I wondered if everyone there was somehow related, so I started trying to link those in the cemetery to my own family tree. I discovered I could link nearly all of them, and this resulted in my creating a new tree including all memorials in the Kerley Cemetery.
I plan to continue to add memorials as I locate and photograph them, and I have also added some memorials based on obituaries. When I come across a sibling, or parent's, or child's obituary, I sometimes create memorials for those people in the cemeteries they are buried in so that i can link them to relatives in the Kerley Cemetery.
I have been looking through obituaries in local papers for Kerley Cemetery burials, and if I find any other ones without a memorial, I create one. This means that many memorials I manage are not my direct family, and if any family member would like to take over management of these, message me on this site and I will transfer management. I do not get transfer requests through e-mail, so please just message me.
