My name is Wendy Ward, daughter of Wendell Ward and Elizabeth Gotzek. Grandaughter of John Emerson Ward and Geneva Eleanor Noble. Great grandaugther of Christopher Ward and Frances Reed. I wrote my thesis about a mining strike in England, and discovered that Chris Ward was a major activist in that strike, as were several of his family members who were blacklisted and forced to emigrate to the US. They all settled in the Galena area and mined lead until lead mining declined. Chris had a farm in England as did most of the lead miners, so he purchased inexpensive farm land near Lamont, Wi, where he lived out the rest of his life with Frances and his very large family. His first wife, Margaret Chatt, bore him two sons before passing: Joseph and Thomas.
