I have been doing genealogy for a lot of years. I was taught a lot of it at my father's knee. I live in Southern Oregon where my ancestors have lived for generations.
I descend from two separate Willard lines on my father's side which are not related. One descends from Major Simon Willard and one from William Willard and Jane Cook's son Alexander Willard who was one of the pioneers of Warren County, Illinois and can be found in the book "EARLY DAYS IN GREENBUSH with Biographical Sketches of the old Settlers". Still on my father's side I descend from John Endicott the first Governor of Massachusetts. I have a number of Endicott and Kight marriages. My paternal grandmother was a Kight.
On my mother's side I descend from Abbott's of Jackson County, Oregon, Batty's, Fox's, Vest's.
My parents William Earl Willard and Velita Mae Batty were both born in Coquille, Coos, Oregon within a month within a block of each other in 1934.
I teach both a beginners and a advanced group of DNA genealogy at our local genealogy library.
