I started doing genealogy in 1990. My grandmother had been in the DAR in the 1920s and I had to reprove my lineage. I have now found out that my people were on Mayflower and have, at least, 12 Revolutionary War ancestors. Many of my Englishmen came here by 1635, mostly living in CT and MA. They then migrated to NY state. One family landed in RI.
Next came my French Huguenots between 1680 and 1699. They settled in NJ and NY state. The most famous family is the Lamoreaux. They eventually landed in Orange County, NY. Some migrated to Canada during the Revolution as loyalists and others to Michigan.
Last are my Scotsmen: Morrison and Stirrat. The Stirrats came from Ayrshire and landed in NYC. Eventually going to Monticello, Sullivan County then spreading out from there. My gr-gr aunts and uncles mostly stayed in Brooklyn.
I have taken quite a few tombstone photos during the years and hope to upload them to findagrave. Starting, of course, with the digital photos.
