My families are from Denmark and Austria. My Danish Grandparents and Great Aunts and Uncles arrived in the United States from the 1890s through the 1920s, some of them through Ellis Island. My Austrian relatives arrived through Baltimore in the 1880s. My Danish family has been traced back to the 1300's. My Austrian relatives back in to the 1700s.

If your relative is someone I took a picture of you may freely copy it. If your family member is someone I entered into the Findagrave.com database I will gladly transfer them to you. I do not "own" your family's gravestone or cemetary records and pictures and if I've taken a picture of your relative's grave marker, then you should have it.

Here is my theory, although it isn't everyone's belief: There is no way I can maintain thousands of memorials or pictures. There have been FAG members who have been able to upload hundreds of thousands of memorials - which is clearly unmanageable. Rather than create duplicate memorials or rely on me to timely update your family member's gravestone - you should have it and you should upload your family photos. You are the best person to take care of your family memorials.
