I have worked on my family genealogy since 1998. Some of my leads were just guesses until taking a DNA test, which was the best decision I have made for research. My intuition proved to be correct on most of my lines, surprisingly.
My Powers line has been verified with Jesse Powers Sr. & Rebecca Bennett, leading back to Adrian (Gordon) Gordy, who was a common grandfather for 2 President's so far, President James Earl Carter and President Barack Hussein Obama, making them my 7th & 6th cousin's, respectively.
My family names include Powers, Bennett, Holloway, Gordy, Percy, Hamblen, Clifton, Smith, Peck, Hampton, Hughes, Nickells, Fulks, Owens, Durham, Chasteen, Daux, Martin, Canady, West, Roberson, Starnes-(Staring), Lunsford, Hall, White, Brown, Tripp, Paine, Spencer, Howard, McCullough, Winkle, Cox, Gray & so many more who have lived important lives, whose borrowed blood flows through me for a short time and has been passed on for future generations to continue their legacy.
We are here but a short time to honor those before us and to bring new descendents to care and preserve the future of our precious Earth, our partner and source of life, from the fragile butterflies to the mightiest redwood forests.
