Upon entering any cemetery, a profound question of which I am reminded, "Why do you seek the living among the dead." (Luke 24:5) It is hallowed ground indeed; a final resting place for the remains of a human being who passed on to eternity. Traditional memorials of bronze, marble, or granite, modest or ostentatious, might provide some lasting evidence to inform others who linger on this mortal soil, yet many ancient cemeteries hold memorials long since weathered upon which there is little to be gleaned. Thus, digital memorials recorded on Find a Grave might be the only thing existing by which to remember a life who mattered to someone; creating and maintaining them is, like a biographer, a sacred trust.

With deep respect for the departed, my intention on this site is to assist the visitors by accurately documenting and sharing, as completely as possible, facts that can be learned, so that some comfort may inure to the benefit of living relatives and friends who come because they may often bear a lasting and profound loss in their hearts. There's no reason for me or anyone to be possessive of any memorial added or managed on this site that contains the details of a life lived by someone other than oneself. Managers who act as gatekeepers on memorials, collecting "stats", refusing to accept edits that provide additional information or improve accuracy because they "must" maintain "control" or enforce rules of their own or FAG, should reconsider what is their purpose to be here. We are all volunteers performing research work that may be monetized by the site owners. Ultimately this work has value only to a limited degree for those with a specific interest.
