I have been researching my family history since before Findagrave.com was born. The picture for my profile is of my two older boys on an earlier trip to Farmington, MS for spring break 1994. That's right, my family got to go to a graveyard for spring break! Quite a road trip from west Texas.
In the days before Findagrave.com and the internet, all of my research was at the library. It was just books and some census info on microfilm then. So, it was a real treat for me in 1994 as I was able to photograph my gggrandmother's grave, Louisa Ellen Bowie Taylor, my ggggrandfather's grave, William Taylor, as well as many other relatives. My gggrandfather, Rev John Henry Taylor (Louisa's husband), was the pastor of the Farmington Baptist Church which is located next to the cemetery. He migrated to Texas in 1893 and remarried in 1894.
Most of my kinfolk from both my mother and father's family lived in the NE Mississippi/SW Tennessee area before migrating to Dallas and NE Texas. Some of them came to Texas before Texas became a republic or a state. History is fun, particularly when you know someone who was a part of it!
I still work for a living, so my research time is limited. If I can help let me know.
