I was born in Marlin, TX, Falls county. I am a junior high school teacher and love Texas History!
My father passed when I was 26, and I don't know a lot about the family. I am trying to create a database for my children of our ancestors. I know my Mamaw Bessie Mae Lewis Brown was born at Mustang Prairie. Her parents, Wiley Brooks Lewis and Gattie, died within days of each other, leaving her and her siblings orphans.
My Papaw, Porter James Brown, Sr., was a preacher in churches around the area. I know he pastured Cedar Springs Baptist Church, among others. We have connected him back to a Samuel Brown in Spotsylvania, VA, but can't get passed Samuel.
