I'm a professional genealogist based in Frederick, Maryland. I was born and raised in Bloomington, Indiana, and my ancestors lived in Monroe, Greene, Owen, Martin, Daviess, and Lawrence counties since the early-mid 1800's.

My paternal grandparents were Emery Edward "Buck" Porter & Barbara Lou (Hamm) Porter. My maternal grandparents were Kenneth Laverne George & Eva Mae (Lukens) George.

Families in my own tree that I research frequently include the Michael(s) family of Beech Creek Township, Greene County, which has ties to Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio, and North Carolina; the Walker-Gowan-Burch families of Greene County, which have ties to Bedford County, Virginia and Surry & Stokes counties, North Carolina; and the George family of Jackson Township, Greene County, which has ties to Boone and Wayne counties, Kentucky.

I also enjoy researching the ancestors of my nieces and nephew, who are like my own children, especially the family of their paternal grandmother, Mary Jean Rogers. Her ancestry traces back to formerly enslaved families who lived in Rockdale, Newton, and Bartow counties, Georgia. Families in her tree that I frequently research include the ancestors of her maternal grandfather John Henry "Thomas" Loyal, including the families of his parents Simon & Maggie (Baker) Loyal, his maternal grandparents Floyd & Amanda (McCalla) Baker, and his great grandparents Britain & Caroline McCalla.
