The inventories were completed as follows:
First by Mrs. M.C. Shoemaker in 1968. The second by Stephens M. and August F. Barnhouse of Eldon, Mo. on 14 March 1972.
When I located the cemetery in 2002, it was located on private land, which was soon sold to a development group for a business park. This group was not aware of the cemetery until I brought it to their attention. At the time of discovery there were a few broken stones that were scattered around. Only two stones were complete and in place. One for Sims Brockman, the other for his wife Rachel (Gartin) Brockman.
All information I have entered here for Mt. Vernon Cemetery is based solely upon those two inventories.
