I always was curious about my ancestry and always found interesting the details that others had uncovered. It wasn't until my first child was born that I felt this urgent need to be able to tell him where he came from and how he got here. The stories I've uncovered, the tragedies and trials that our ancestors suffered through are completely heartbreaking. But then the adventures they had and the new lives they started are as equally exciting to discover.

In the end, I nor my son would be here had our forefathers & mothers not made the choices they did, had they not lived the lives they had. Our ancestors all deserve to be remembered - these monuments were important enough to those who had them erected to ensure that the names of their loved ones didn't fade into historic obscurity and it's now our duty to ensure those who've passed before us are not forgotten. You're never truly gone so long as someone remembers.
