I am a descendent on my mother's side of the famiy from the English family of George Perrin and Elizabeth Brown, both families of which lived in Devon, SW of London. George and Elizabeth were married in Devon on November 16, 1825. The Perrin family emigrated to the United States in October 1849 and chose to live in Dayton, Ohio (Montgomery County as shown in the 1850 census for Montgomery County. My mother's family is descended from one of the Perrin daughters (Mary Francis). A Mr. Frederick Rife from the Chambersburg area of Pennsylvanis married Mary Francis in Dayton, Ohio; they travelled back to the Chambersburg area to live and raise a family.
On my father's side of the family, I am a descendent of an Anabaptist Swiss Wenger family from an area close to Bern and the northern part of the Swiss Alps. This family, along with many other Anabaptist families, were forced to leave Switzerland and settled for a time in SW Germany shortly after the 30 years war between France and Germany. After a short period in Germany, this family emigrated to the United States along with many other Anabaptist families, and settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Shortly after living in the US, the family Anglicized its Wenger name changing it to "Wingert" and moved to the Chambersburg area of Pennsylvania and became part of a Brethren in Christ (BIC) community. It is is Chambersburg that my parents met and got married; shortly after their marriage, they joined two other BIC couples and started new lives in and around Orlando, Florida. I am part of a large Wingert family of 1 daughter and 5 sons. My wife and I currently live in Reston, Virginia outside of Washington, DC.
