Author of "Rebels in my Tree" which tells the stories of members of the Lamar family in the US from 1663 including the story of Major Mareen Lamar. It also tells how the third generation of Lamars left MD for SC and GA. Their offspring owned 61 plantations and had 9 Lt. Colonels and Colonels in the Confederate army (six KIA and one unknown). Of the two who lived, one went on to the U. S. Supreme Court. The other's son founded what is now Lamar Advertising a public company.
When the Society of the Cincinnati was founded, Major Mareen Lamar was made an original member because he died in the war.
