My interest in Genealogy began in 1998 with LUTZ.

My wife's Great Aunt Helen, daughter of Harvey Lutz (#64059868) gave me a 3x4 ft. sheet hand-drawn family tree filled with limbs and branches listing what came to be 643 family members related to my wife. This began a journey of adventure that has encompassed the years since then.

Throughout this trip, many family members have been found and memorials established or edits suggested on Find-a-Grave in their honor. I appreciate all the contributors that I have contacted.

My family research surnames include:

Christopherson, Lutz, Sutherlin, Fundenburger, Parry, Roberts.

and many, many others...Most of which are part of my extended family.

My Family Research now includes 300 families with an index of nearly 400 entries of individuals to their respective family. (offline data).

"We don't "own" the memorials we manage - they are not ours. We may create them, we may update them, we may transfer them to others - we are but stewards. They are Find A Grave memorials of human beings, departed. They are not "friends" on a social media network website to be collected like baseball trading cards. And there's no prize for the one who dies with the most."

One more comment about Find-A-Grave: This site is not simple a listing of people who have passed, but a listing of their final resting place. It's "Find-A Grave". A cremated individual could still be listed with a proper location. For example, "ashes spread at sea", if fine. Please include the approximate GPS location. I have a few examples if this in the memorials I sponsor.

In my LUTZ research and attempt to validate, Henry b.1771's father has not been confirmed.

My wife is descendant from this Henry. This in attempt to find his father.

I want to share what I have for all the other Lutz's.

SAR Registration Research/Validation

SAR indicates Casper Lutz (d.JUL1800), however the SAR records for this registration is problematic. According to the SAR Records I received:

1- Mr. Cover states that only one Henry Lutz appears in the US Census between 1790 and 1840. While this is true, upon an exhaustive examination of the Lancaster Church Records for the period, reveals two Casper's and three Henry's to consider.

a. Henry b.1753, son of Casper and Margaret.

b. Henry b.1776, son of Nicolas, Grandson of another Casper.

c. Henry b.1771, married Susanna. Both buried at Denver Union

Passenger and Immigration Lists Indexes reveal indeed, four Casper's.

Casper may be referred to as "Christopher" according to Lancaster HS.

Arrivals in 1738, 1738, and 1752. One also in 1876.

Henry b.1771 is my wife's 6thGreat Grandfather through Aaron.

I made copies of Henry's will and estate inventory at the Lancaster Historical Society.

Aaron is listed as executor, and listed first among the family.

I an confident Find-A-Grave is accurate from Henry to Aaron and further.

However, in the proposed Casper's family the children are:

Gravesites for Henry b.1753, nor Casper (his father) have been identified.

As was mentioned above by someone, the age of Henry b.1753 makes him too young to have fought in the Revolutionary War.

Although Henry b.1771 was in his early forties during the War of 1812, and may have served, and should be honored regardless.

2- German naming convention during this period.

According to my German naming studies, the son's first name typically would be the paternal grandfather's first name. The first daughter's name would be the maternal Grandmother's first name.

Considering Henry b.1771's first son is Aaron Lutz b.1804. This lends to the likelihood that Henry's father's first name may be Aaron. Possibly b.1730-1750, and may be the immigrant from Germany. I had the Lancaster Historical society unsuccessfully search under this criteria. I would like to go there and take another look.

The LDS website shows a Casper as Henry b.1771's father.

I am sorry to say I feel this is not correct.
