I was tracing my family ancestry and ended up at a local cemetery to view the grave. Unfortunately there was no headstone, just the plot marker. I was saddened that this (distant) relative may be forgotten. I decided to start photographing graves and entering them into Find A Grave so that others will not be forgotten, or if their family lives far away they will be able to see the grave.

I pick a section of a cemetery and photograph each grave, then move onto another section. I try to take the best pictures I can. :) If a headstone has no date of death, I do research, verify that the person is deceased and that they are in fact buried in that section before I enter into FAG.

I am currently photographing Woodlawn in Toledo. I have completely photographed and entered sections 9-15, 19-21A, 22-32, 34-38, 39-44, 51.
