I live in Lincoln Maine, a former 4-12 educator who now has the time to indulge my favorite past-times- researching family histories. I am currently researching the founding settlers of the town of Lincoln for a bicentennial project and to correct vital records created in the early 1900s-before internet was available. FYI Lincoln was sold in a lottery in 1823/4 and incorporated in 1829. NO ONE could have been born, married or died before those dates- in Lincoln. If you see this misinformation please contact the maintainer to contact Lincoln Hist. Society for correct information. We may have already uncovered the true facts.
As the 250 yrs of Revolution progresses- Its important to acknowledge one part of Maine most don't know or care about: Our government's object is the same as Federal Govt- To secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity. . . The majority of my ancestors arrived on the North American Continent before 1660- and in Maine- between 1620 and 1640- 400 yrs ago. My Gram said, . . . "if you were in Maine when Maine became a state you are related by blood or marriage to everyone else who was in Maine when Maine became a state." Seeking grave marker information in some cases may be as easy as contacting a town's historical society or oldest church group. I'm considered part of the "Scarborough Branch" of the Jordans, Libbys and Chases here in Lincoln.
The person I' am "following" does not take messages but he/she has Abbie's birthplace and Mother incorrect. I have a hard enough time doing ancestry DNA and not having her replace with the NH Abbie with out dealing with an Aroostook County Abbie as well. I don't use the outlook type of email associated on this site so cannot notify the cemetery page thingy either. How do I get this changed? Also Cyrus did get a civil war pension and his two stepbrothers Asa and Levi went to war with him. Asa didn't come back and Levi came back missng body parts. Abbie's brother Tascus was Levi's lawyer for reparation. Levi is probably buried in New Gloucester but for years he was Westfield's school Master and his wife Charlotte a Teacher plus Levi was also Town Clerk. My brother was named Elmer Forrest for our gr grandfather and I was named Kathryn Lee for our Gr grandmother.
