A historian and lifelong learner... I was born, raised -and spent my first 36 years- in the New Hampshire Seacoast region. I love to help others travelling similar paths by sharing resources and experience, as well as making DNA connections. I just feel that there is simply nothing more gratifying than being able to successfully put pieces of the 'genealogical puzzle' together.

The biggest lesson that my "Type-A" psyche has had to learn (and accept) over the last 20+ years of research is the importance of flexibility and open-mindedness. Rigidity and a refusal to acknowledge the possibility that there is accepted alternative (or additional) information... has no place in genealogical, or historical, research.

Find a Grave is often a perfect example of where we need to allow for differences. In the interest of connecting families, it is extremely important that we make concessions for the fact that stone engravings and obituaries, as well as, birth/death certificates do not always provide absolute or finite information!
-- Immigration patterns, language diversity, dialects, and illiteracy had profound effects on name spellings and translations.
-- Exact dates and years of birth meant little to those from the small, remote villages and towns.
-- Not everyone providing information on vital records were close family or friends, and even then, they were not always fully knowledgable about their relation's personal details.

So, please -- please, remain open to suggested edits you receive from those of us who may still have older living family or have done research above and beyond just walking through the graveyard... especially if you have created, or are managing, a Memorial for someone you personally do not have a direct connection to.
