My name is Mary Underwood, maiden name Hart. I am descended from the Harts, Hedges, and Whetstones of White, Hamilton, and Franklin Counties, and from the Summers family of Franklin County, all in Southern Illinois. I have always been interested in my family and their stories ever since I was a girl back before the war (WWII). I am new to this internet site, but my son Matthew and his wife Kara have done this for some time, and would do more if they were retired. Matt has done family tree stuff since the 1970's. I am retired but do not get out much any more.
I am discontinuing my independent activity, and am joining my son Matt and daughter-in-law Kara, my husband Bob, and my daughter-in-law's mother Sharon, in a research group to manage our memorials together and try to build up those memorials in the best cooperative way. This is the Underwood-Hart-Siweck-Ozee group.
