I'm new to the family research project. I'm awed by all the work that folks have done. Coming from a computer and data background I'm a little particular about data accuracy. I appreciate that this medium allows corrections and additions. But it also has the challenge of errors carved in stone and in print.

My own father's second wife has her name misspelled on her headstone. While my father didn't want a double headstone with his name on it, his second wife had a double with her first husband. My father didn't correct the misspelling of her name but he did have his last name added to her double headstone. It had bothered him that she was buried under her first husband's name. He had given his name to her in life and he wanted her to have it in memorial.

My goal is to link my family together and get an obit or bio for each. With it being free I feel that more family members can see it in progress. My father was a great storyteller and fortunately typed those up in family emails. I hope to compile them and the info from here into a family history book.

Growing up by my paternal grandmother I enjoyed the yearly visit of my paternal Uncles, Aunts and cousins. I knew everyone's middle name because when you got in trouble you were called by your first and middle name. So you can tell we all got into trouble a lot. Which is partly why I don't like being called by my first and middle name. I'm not perpetually in trouble and it is not a family tradition or thing since none of my cousins go by their first and middle name.

Unfortunately my maternal family was farther away and I didn't get to see them nearly as much. We became the lost tribe of the bunch. Plus I lost my mother while in college and lost the repetition of stories and connection of visits. It has been a treat to discover my maternal extended family. Fortunately they have more obits attached that make that possible.
