While family history has been a long-time interest, I have only been actively doing family research since 2015, primarily on Ancestry.com. I retired as a Presbyterian minister early in 2021 after serving four different congregations in north central Kansas. From 2014 to 2021 we lived at Concordia which is not far from the area where my paternal ancestors settled in the 1870s and 1880s. I even discovered that one set of my 2nd great grandparents lived in Belleville the other community I served during those years. In fact one of my predecessors officiated the marriage of my great grandmother's younger sister.
In 1916, my grandparents moved to Colorado where my father was born later that year. My mother's family moved to south central Colorado a few years later from Iowa. In fact all of my great grandparents (except my paternal grandmother's family who immigrated from Germany in 1885) were in Iowa about the time of the Civil War.
The family names on my paternal side are Frasier, Bock, Stanfield, (names from this part of Kansas) Banks, Huntress, Hadlock, Grove,Matthews, Dillon, Moeller, and Grafinau.
Family names on my maternal side include Swain, Elder, Waugh, Dunlap, Miller, Lowary, Buck, Truman, Erwin, Campbell, Warrick, Gray, Davis, Alexander, Wright, and Hamilton.
We are now living in Chapman near my daugther and her family.
